Weekend trip

This past weekend was a little crazy for me! I ended up making a very quick trip across the state to my home town because my sister in-law was going to be induced due to some pregnancy complications. It was not planned but turned out to be a really fun, jam packed few days. If you have ever had someone close to you have a baby, sometimes it feel like you just hurry up and wait for a long time. Since I had my baby girl with me, I decided to do the waiting part outside of the hospital while things were moving slowly for my sister in-law. We spent the morning with my sister, mom, nieces and nephew up at a place we call Greenbluff. Basically it is a bunch of farms that sell apples, pumpkins and super delicious goodies. Liberty LOVED it and now I am stocked up to the brim with apples, pumpkins and tomatoes! And to top off the entire weekend, my newest nephew came healthy and his momma is doing great. He is so adorable! Now to overload you with pictures...#sorrynotsorry

The headbands that my daughter and I came wearing are from the dollar store. I got two of them and with a little diy made one of them fit my girl. Easy, cheap and cute!

I hope you all had an amazing weekend doing something fun! Happy Tuesday!

Keep it on the cheap

I know I have said this before, but going cheap on your outfit does not mean you have to sacrifice style. The entire outfit I am wearing below cost me a whopping $6! It is all about shopping smart. Even if you don't shop thrift, always check the sales racks. The skirt is from Old Navy and I got it on sale for $2! The color is very in for Fall right now and you would never know it only cost that much. The same goes with this blazer. It was a thrift store purchase for $1.99. You can't beat that price for a classic black blazer. How have you kept your outfits on the cheap?

Outfit details:
Skirt: Old Navy-$2
Blazer: Thrift-$1.99
Black tee: free
Leggings: Target clearance-$.99
Necklace: Walmart: $1.00

Boots were a gift so I am not including them in the total cost of this outfit.

Total $6.00

So I chopped my hair off a day ago. It wasn't exactly how I asked for it to be done but I guess it could be worse. I feel like I usually always have that experience when going to a new salon. Anyhow, it feels SO nice to short hair again!

Have a fab Friday all!

Buffalo plaid + Stripes = fav combo

One of my all time favorite ways to pattern mix is with buffalo plaid and stripes. If you are not used to pattern mixing or are not comfortable with it yet, give it a try with those two patterns! This mix up is one way to wear different patterns in a classic not so crazy look. You are only venturing just a tiny little bit out of the box with these patterns. Plus these simple colors and patterns are a go to look for Fall and Winter. Also I have found that you can almost always find buffalo plaid tops, coats, and pants at a thrift store. My shirt was a thrift find and I wear it all the time. And who doesn't have something striped in their closet?

In other news, I am chopping off my hair tomorrow. After weeks of debating of how I should cut it, I still have no idea what I am going to do. I don't want it long anymore. It took me 2 flipping years to grow it out this long and I don't even like it. So off it goes. I will post a pic of the final thing this week. Crossing my fingers it turns out good! This is the first time I am getting my hair done in my new city.

Outfit details:
Striped top: Burlington-$5.99
Buffalo Plaid top: Thrift-$2.00
Pants: Thrift-$3.99
Boots: Steve Madden-$69.99

Outfit total (minus the boots-they were a gift): $11.98

Have a great Tuesday!

Sweats, messy hair, don't care

So there are days when as a mom, all you can manage to do is throw on a pair of sweat pants and call it a day. And then there are the days where that's all you want do but you also have to run some errands. Those are the days where you just throw all the fashion "rules" out the door and embrace the sweats, no makeup and messy hair kind of look. That is what I did after my daughter decided that sleeping at night was a thing of the past. I think waking up at 3 am should be illegal, I am just saying.

Honestly, I know I don't look the best in these pics. I got the "you look like you just rolled out of bed" look up and down at the stores I went into by quite a few people. But that is ok. I have learned really quickly as a mom, that you don't always look your best all the time. You are tired more often then not and you don't always get time for yourself. I have had to learn to be ok with that. Being a mom is worth the sleepless nights, no showers and everything that comes along with caring for a little ones needs 24 hours a day. Don't get me wrong, I love dressing in cute outfits as much as the next person but since being a mom I am ok if that doesn't always happen.

Anyhow, these are my sentimental thoughts this Friday night after a long week. I hope you all have a great weekend ahead of you and remember don't be to hard on yourself. Embrace each day as it comes.

Plum

Ok so I have to be honest, I think I have worn these pants almost everyday this week. They are comfy enough to chase around my little baby now that she is moving all over the place but easy to dress up as well. I am crushing on the color plum this season and right now I only have these pants in that color. I will be on the look out for more pieces in this color when I am out and about in the next few weeks. Plum pairs amazing with tons of colors but one of my favorite ways to wear it is with deep blues.

Outfit details:
Pants: Forever 21-$9.99
Top: Merona- Free from my sister
Shoes: Rue 21-$9.99
Sweater:Thrift-$2.99

Outfit totals: $22.97

Pulling out an oldie

I was cleaning out my closet the other day and I stumbled upon this dress that I have not worn in ages. It seems like some of my clothes I will wear about 50 times in a row when I first get them, then not wear them for what seems like decades. Anyone else do that? I need to be more diligent with wearing my clothes on a consistent basis. Especially since becoming a mom. I try to get out of the house at least once a day but sometimes I don't even get out of my sweats. Just being honest!

Outfit details:
Dress: Thrift Merona from Target-$2.99
Top: Thrift-$1.99
Boots: Steve Madden-$69.99

Outfit total: $74.97

Have a perfect first day of October!
