Thursday's thrifting tip

7 years ago I had the opportunity to go on one of the most life changing and incredible trips I have ever been on. Even though I was young it still impacted my life in a big way. I got the chance to go on a trip to the Philippines to help out in a orphanage and bible school my parents church helped start. It was a wild and experience filled trip that helped shape me into who I am today. Now you are probably thinking "what in the world does this have to do with anything"? Well that's what I am here to tell you!
I had so many experiences in the Philippines but one of the most fascinating was when myself and the group I was with got to do some shopping at a local market in one of the mountain villages. It was there where I first learned what haggling for an item really entailed! Villagers would go back and forth about the price on an item loudly, always trying to get the price lower and lower. That experience has always left an impression on me. I figured why not try that right where I live? I know it is almost unheard of because frankly people just think your rude. But the world of thrift store shops and second hand is way different then the department store experience.
Haggle. Ask for a discount. If  you think an items is over priced ask them to discount it. I think you will be surprised by what they can do for you! Never, ever be afraid to ask for a discount. Thrift stores are not like department stores, they set the prices on everything and they can change them for you. Good things come to those who ask!
Haggling(in a respectful way, not loudly and in their face mind you) may not come easy for you but it can be fun once you get used to it!

Hope you all have a fabulous Thursday!
