Feeling preppy

The snow finally decided to melt here in the northwest and we had the sun come out for about one day. Talk about bipolar weather! I am pretty sure everyone who has winter weather is saying this but I will continue the sentiment and say "can it be spring already please!!" I need more then one day of sun in my life! Literally speaking of course. So when we did get that one day of sun this week, I decided to harness my inner prep with this outfit. I pulled out my recent thrift store shoe find (I'm loving these heels!!) and paired them with a straight leg pant. My favorite part of this outfit is the sweater though! Dots, stripes, blue and pink. Some of my favorite combos rolled into one sweater. You can't beat that!

Outfit details:
Pants: H&M-$5 (recent with a gift card)
Sweater: TJ Maxx-$12.99 (older purchase)
Shirt: Thrifted-$2.00!
Shoes: Thrifted-$2.99!

Hope you have a fabulous Friday!! Thanks for reading!

Thursdays thrifting tip

Happy Thursday! One of the best thrift store shopping tips I can give you is very simple. And one that would seem like a "no duh" thing. It is simply this: be kind and friendly to the store employees! Yes, that's probably something that most everyone already does in any store or at least they should do anyways. But seriously, when you thrift store shop you are going to the same stores the majority of the time. Especially if you find a gem of a thrift store. Just the other day when I was at a thrift store I began chatting with one of the store associates and after a few minutes of talking she ended up giving me a big tip on when they get the best product into the store. See, it pays to be nice!

I also wanted to share with you a few items that have me totally inspired lately. Even though I won't be able to get these exact items when thrift store shopping, I am hoping I can find similar pieces. Each one of these pieces are perfect for transitioning into spring. Slogan tee-shirts are a big trend right now because they are simple and chic. I can't get enough of tea length skirts. They are so feminine! I love the soft color of the necklace because it is so versatile and talk about it being a statement. Love that. Floral prints are a fun way to add a little something to a ho hum outfit. I love the idea of adding the print in a blazer! I can't wait to see if I can find any pieces that are similar to these gorgeous ones when I am thrifting. I'm up for the challenge!

Keeping it casual

I wore this look over the weekend for a casual day out with my husband. I wanted to be comfy and casual but still pulled together. I have to talk about these jeans for a second. My brother is friends with this lady Michele Nassaney, who designs custom made jeans. So for Christmas one year he had her design me a pair. I tell you what, these jeans are by far some of my absolute favorite! You can tell the quality is amazing and that they will last for years. If you ever want to splurge on yourself and get custom made jeans, check out her etsy shop Michele Nassaney. It will be well worth it, I promise!

Brag about Monday

Have you ever had one of those days where it just started out with badly and only escalated from there? That was my morning, starting at 4:00 am today. I woke up to a blaring car alarm going off non-stop. I knew if it was waking me and my husband up, then it had to be waking up half the apartment community we live in as well. I checked out my window to see if I could tell what car it was but didn't see any blinking lights or anything giving me a hint on who's dang car was keeping me from sleep. I knew it couldn't be my car because the electrical has not been working and I have never had an alarm to my knowledge. So fast forward 3 hours later to 7:00 am as I am walking out the door to go to work. I am making my way down the stairs and as I draw closer to my car I think dear God please, please, please tell me that it wasn't MY car going off for the past 3 hours!! Oh but it was! Mortified. Embarrassed. Yep, my car caused many people to be without a good night sleep! All I wanted to do was hop in my car and leave before anyone saw me to give me a piece of their mind but of course it just had to snow the night before. My car was covered. So as I got out of the car to clean the windows off, not only did some of the office staff await me but also a very pissed off neighbor. And you can probably guess what happened from there. I got the talking too of my life as I tried to profusely apologize for all the havoc my car alarm caused! Needless to say that set the tone for how the rest of my morning went. Moral of this story: Make sure you know if your car has an alarm!! (and if an alarm starts going off in the middle of the night, go out and check to see if it's yours. It will save you a headache!)
So after all the crazy that happened this a.m, I wanted to brag about some of my fam to help brighten my day. I married into one of the most loving families ever. Every one of my husbands siblings, his parents and brother in-law are truly flat out amazing people! They welcomed me into the family with open arms and are always there to support me if I need it. I think personally that the definition of the name Mitchell should be changed to laughter. Because whenever you get around these people you are bound to have a good gut roll laugh! There is never, ever a dull moment and I can't tell you how much I love that! So here is too the Mitchell family! I am thankful and blessed to be apart of such an amazing family. Love you all to death!!

Hope you all have had a better start to your Monday then me! And hey, if not hopefully it will only get better!

Yes I got it at a thrift store

I scored a few awesome deals while thrift store shopping this week! Almost all of my finds were brand new with the tags still attached, so I am pretty excited to say the least! Normally I do not find so many shoes but for some reason this week that was the majority of what I found.

These four pairs were purchased at Goodwill and the three on the right are all brand new!

These pink heals are one of my favorite finds and I love the bow detail!
Price: $2.99

These flats are from Target and still have the tags on them. They are not my size so I picked them up for my sister because $2.97 is just too good of a price to pass up for a new shoe.

These shoes are from Target as well and were again only $2.97. I spotted them and had to get them for my sister in law because they were not my size. The gold stud detail is what makes them. So cute!

These heels I got at a little 2nd hand store called Beau Monde Exchange for just $6.00! Heels are a must have in my wardrobe and I am glad I found these for a great price.

These flats I bought from a friend because they were not working out for her. The brand is Nine West.

The sweater is from Beau Monde Exchange as well and it was only $7.00. I have been a little obsessed with stripes lately so I couldn't pass up this Old Navy sweater.

I got this top and belt at Goodwill the same time as I got the shoes. Both from Target and both new. $.97 for the belt and only $1.97 for the top!
Flats only $2.97 and purchased at Goodwill.
So grand total (drum roll please): $ 27.84 for all 9 items! Not to shabby!
Hope your weekend is lovely!

Camo two ways

It's Friday! Best day of the work week by far and I hope you all are enjoying it! I wanted to share with you today a couple fun ways to wear camo pants. I was hesitant to first try out camo pants but when I finally pulled the trigger and bought some I instantly fell in love.

I wanted to dress up the camo pants with this first outfit so I went with a textured top and a blazer. Blazers are the perfect item to instantly dress up a casual outfit and give it a chic look. So if you don't have one, get one! You won't regret it.

This next look is more casual paired with a jean jacket, embellished tee and simple flats. Forever 21 did it again with these pants! Talk about comfortable!

Outfit #1 details:
Pants: F21
Blazer: Target -Thrifted $4.00
Top: Target-purchased on clearance a year ago
Flats: TJ Maxx

Outfit #2 details:
Pants: F21
Shirt: Gift from my sister in law-sorry not sure where she got it
Jacket: Thrifted $3.00
Flats: Thrifted $2.50

Hope you all have an extra fabulous day!

Thursday's Thrifting tip

Want to know how to get even better deals at thrift and second hand stores? I thought you might want to know because really who doesn't love getting an insane deal? Many thrift stores large and small will use social media to promote their business. So when they are going to be having a sale or discount on certain items they will post them on sites like Facebook but not advertise them in store. I look up every thrift store I shop at regularly on Facebook and like their pages because I can often get a percentage off my purchase or an item additional to the already great price. Also stores will advertise days in advance when certain tag colors or sections in the store will be on sale. Tag colors are pretty much just the price tag of an item and stores will have some that are say green, blue, or pink ect. When a thrift store has a section sale that could mean one day all women's shirts will be an additional certain percentage off. This goes for any other section of the store such as shoes, men's clothes, or furniture. But most of all I love that thrift stores will post pictures of new product they get into the store on social media sites! I am able to plan my thrift store hauls way better when I have an idea about the best days to go.

Hope this little bit of insight into thrift store shopping helps! Now go out there and get a bargain!

So first off I just want to say there is a perfect explanation for my weird facial expressions in all these pics! It was super windy out and the sun was in my eyes! Plus I forgot my sunglasses so things were just not going my way with these photos. But you know what, that's ok! At least you can see the outfit and that is what matters. I have to say that I love rain boots! Rain boots are one reason why I will miss the colder temps when summer decides to roll around. I decided to sport them with this navy blue and white striped blazer for a little bit of a nautical look. The blazer is a from H&M and if you have not looked into their selection of blazers I would suggest you do. You can always snag one at a great price!

Outfit Details:
Blazer: H&M-$5
Pants: J. Crew-Thrifted -$9.99
Top: TJ Maxx-(Older-about a year)

Brag about Monday

HAPPY Monday everyone! I get this glorious day off because of Presidents day and I could not be happier to have a three day weekend! Today I wanted to give a shout out and brag a little on my sis Liz. Growing up in a big family you become closer to some of your siblings because of the age range difference. I absolutely love to death everyone of my siblings and could talk about them all day long but my sister Liz was close to my age and so we did a lot together. Even today with her three kids later we try to hangout as much as we can. She is a super mom and home maker! I have rarely seen someone who is so loving and patient with her kids even when things seem to be spiraling out of control. And if your a mom you probably can understand having those type of days! She is the type of sister you can always call up if your having a rough day or just want to chat for a bit. Also she is one of the hardest workers I know. Stay at home mom(and you can't convince me that is not work), has an in home business on the side and also works for family a family member a couple days a week. I admire and look up to her in so many ways. One day when I am a mom I hope I can show my kids and husband as much love as she does. Love you my beautiful sister!

Hope you all have a great Monday and remember comment below if you want to brag about someone you know!
